Research Grants

American Medical Systems, Inc. (AMS) recognizes and supports the vital role medical research plays in generating valuable scientific and clinical information that leads to innovative treatments, improved health care delivery, improved clinical care, and other advances that benefit patients specifically. AMS provides Research Grants that support independent medical research based on scientific merit focused on disease states and treatment options related to male and female pelvic health.

Research Grants may be initiated externally and conducted independently of AMS or they may involve a collaborative arrangement between AMS and an external Investigator or facility, with either party initiating the request and both parties sharing the responsibilities for designing, implementing, evaluating, and reporting the research.

Research Grants are awarded at the sole discretion of AMS and based on AMS’ business needs. Submission of a request does not guarantee that a Research Grant will be awarded. No Research Grants will be awarded as an inducement for the purchase, lease, recommendation, order, or prescription of any AMS products or as a reward for previous, current, or prospective business.

Eligibility for Research Grants

Please read the following information carefully. You must meet our eligibility requirements to be considered for a grant.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Research Grant requests must focus on disease states and treatment options related to:
   1. Urology;
   2. Gynecology;
   3. Urogynecology;
   4. Prostate Health;
   5. Proctology; or
   6. Laser therapies;
2. Investigators must be qualified by education and experience to conduct the proposed Research.
3. The protocol and Research must conform to all applicable state, federal, national and local laws, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and other guidelines including, but not limited to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), State laws, Anti-kickback Statute, and the AdvaMed Code of Ethics, or comparable laws, regulations, and guidelines in other countries.

Request Form for Research Grant

If you meet the Eligibility Requirements please:

• Download and fully complete the Research Grant Request Form;
• Provide a copy of the Protocol, draft Protocol, or abstract for the proposed Research;
• Provide a budget for the proposed Research;
• Provide the curriculum vitae of the Principal Investigator;
• Provide sufficient documentation to demonstrate (i) the scientific merit of the proposed Research, including the extent to which the proposed Research advances scientific knowledge, (ii) the relevance to areas of interest to American Medical Systems, Inc. (AMS), (iii) the likelihood that the proposed Research will produce useful information not otherwise available, and (iv) the scope and size of the proposed Research to ensure that its scope and size do not exceed that needed to produce meaningful results;

How do I apply for a Research Grant?
Please visit and review the Eligibility Requirements under the Eligibility Requirements tab and then download and fully complete the Research Grant Request Form under the Request Form tab. Submit via email the completed Research Grant Request Form and supporting documentation to moc.dmma@tseuqeRtnarG with Research Grant Request Form in the subject line. Only requests submitted on the Research Grant Request Form will be considered.

How many Research Grant Request Forms can I submit?
An investigator or facility may only submit one Research Grant Request Form for a particular Research proposal.

Does AMS accept paper Research Grant Request Forms?
Yes, although we prefer and recommend that Research Grant Request Forms be submitted electronically via email to moc.dmma@tseuqeRtnarG. Hard copies of the Research Grant Request Form may be mailed to:

How quickly will a decision be made on my Research Grant Request Form?
Please allow a minimum of thirty (30) days for review of a fully completed Research Grant Request Form. Once a determination is made to award a Research Grant, the parties must enter into a written agreement. Negotiating the terms and conditions of the agreement will take additional time beyond the thirty (30) days.

Can I amend or change the Research Grant Request Form that I already submitted?
No but AMS may seek clarifying information or request additional support documents.

What do I need to include with my Research Grant Request Form?

Will I receive confirmation that my Research Grant application was received?
Yes. You will receive an email confirmation within 1-2 days of receipt.
